DigCompEduSAT is an initiative led by the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC) in Seville (JRC-Seville). Its aim is to develop and pilot test an on-line tool to enable educators across all sectors – from pre-primary to higher education – to self-assess their digital competences.
The tool takes users (educators) through a series of question items designed to assess their knowledge of applying digital competences in a teaching setting. At the end of this self-assessment, the tool produces a ‘Competence Report’ that shows the competences on which the user scores well, and the competences on which they score less well. The objective is to highlight the user’s competence gaps, so they can then think about what they might do to improve their use of digital tools in their teaching practice.
Arcola Research is leading this project. We will develop the tool and hand it over to a consortium of partners who will pilot the tool in Italy, Spain, Portugal, Finland and Estonia. We will then use the piloting results to improve the tool, preparing the ground for a planned roll-out of the tool in 2019.
